Sensei Sumit, began his martial arts journey at the age of 14, starting as a wrestler before transitioning to judo, where he learned discipline, etiquette, respect, and strong values from his coaches. He competed at district, state, and national levels during his university years.

After entering full-time employment, he had to step away from the sport for a period. However, when he moved to the UK in 2010,  returned to judo—and that journey continues to this day.

Wanting to give back to the judo family, he became actively involved as a coach and referee, supporting the sport in any way he can. My aim is to uphold the spirit of judo and share the knowledge, respect, and passion that this sport has given to him. Judo is truly a way of life for him; it has strengthened his confidence, supported him through challenging times, and shaped his character. It is a continuous learning path toward becoming a better human being for him.

Professionally, he is an IT engineer with a Master’s degree in Operations Management and a people leader by role. He strongly believe that sport and work go hand in hand—skills such as leadership, people management, mentorship, resilience, and career development are transferable between both worlds.
